WE ARE FOOTBALL 2027 Editor & Databases

Build leagues, kits, stadiums, and user databases with external and in-game editors.

Community creativity is baked into WE ARE FOOTBALL 2027. A powerful external editor ships with the game, and in-game editors let you fix club, staff, and player details without abandoning a live save. This page explains what you can build, how the Standard and World databases fit in, how logos and kits land in user databases, and how older WE ARE FOOTBALL databases convert forward.

Return to the Tools Hub for specs and controls. For a dedicated Standard vs World decision guide, see Databases. When your database is ready, pick a starter challenge on the Tier List Hub or jump into Career Mode.

External editor overview

The external editor is the heavy workshop. Typical building blocks include:

  • League systems with promotion, relegation, playoffs, and multi-tier national or local cups
  • Clubs, squads, and hierarchies inside those pyramids
  • Stadiums with seating and standing areas, VIP boxes, video rings, ad boards, stand texts and logos, seating patterns, optional running tracks, and pitch patterns
  • Players, managers, staff, and referees
  • Sponsors, fan chants, and derbies
  • Separate U21/U23 leagues (for example England-style reserve pyramids)
  • International club competitions, including the expanded World-database continental slots

Because the series does not rely on official league licences in the FIFA/EA sense, the editor is how you—and the wider community—shape recognisable football worlds with custom names, badges, and structures. Share finished databases with other players so everyone can download free expansions.

The video embedded on this page walks through editor work on cities, stadiums, and clubs—a practical mid-article tour before you dive into conversion and kit packaging below.

In-game editors

Not every tweak needs a full external rebuild. In-game editors cover club, staff, and player data during an ongoing save—perfect for renaming a generated youth prospect, correcting a display name, or adjusting club details after a storyline twist.

Use in-game tools when:

  • A single player name needs fixing mid-season
  • You want light club-profile edits without exporting the whole database
  • Hotseat friends agree on a cosmetic change and you do not want to restart

Use the external editor when:

  • You are inventing new leagues, cups, or entire nations
  • You are importing logo/kit packs at scale
  • You need structural rules (playoffs, regional cups, U23 divisions) changed before kick-off

Standard and World databases

Men’s football offers:

  • Standard — Europe-focused coverage with a lighter simulation load
  • World200+ countries and additional international club competitions (two per continent except Antarctica in the World set)

Women’s football includes two European international competitions in the featured set. League systems remain fully editable either way: promotion/relegation rules, playoffs, and national/local cups across multiple tiers.

Performance implications of World vs Standard are covered on System Requirements. Build ambitious World projects on machines that meet the recommended 12 GB RAM / 8 GB VRAM guidance.

Logos, kits, and user databases

Extensive logo and kit editors accept custom graphics. A typical community workflow looks like this:

  1. Create or obtain transparent logos and kit textures that match the editor’s expected sizes.
  2. Assign them to clubs inside the external editor.
  3. Package a user database so friends can install the same look without repeating every click.
  4. Smoke-test a short save: check menus, matchday kits, and stadium boards before committing to a 10-year career.

Keep source PNGs organised outside the game folder so patches do not orphan your art. When Steam updates the title, re-verify that custom paths still resolve—then skim What’s New for editor-related patch notes.

Stadiums and club grounds

The stadium editor goes beyond a single capacity slider. You can mix seating and standing, place VIP boxes, add a video ring, extra advertising boards, stand texts and logos, stadium-wide seating patterns, an optional athletics track, and selectable pitch patterns. Separate 3D club grounds offer buildings and layout options so the non-matchday identity of a club feels intentional.

For rebuild saves—lower-league archetypes on the Tier List Hub—plan stadium upgrades as milestones rather than dumping every cosmetic on day one. Boards, fans, and finances still have to survive the climb.

Converting WE ARE FOOTBALL 2024 databases

WE ARE FOOTBALL 2027 includes automatic conversion of existing WAF databases, including projects born in WE ARE FOOTBALL 2024. Before you convert a prized community DB:

  1. Back up the original files.
  2. Run the conversion path documented with the editor tools.
  3. Open the result in the external editor and spot-check leagues, cups, kits, and derbies.
  4. Start a short test career in Free Club Selection before trusting a decade-long save.
  5. Re-apply any Creative Mode rule tweaks you relied on—new WAF27 features may supersede old workarounds.

Conversion is a bridge, not a guarantee that every handmade edge case survives unchanged. Budget an evening for QA if your database includes unusual playoff graphs or custom continental slots.

Creative Mode and editors together

Creative Mode lets you rewrite rules, probabilities, and timings, and even jump to any club with direct actions. Editors shape the world data; Creative Mode shapes the rules layer on top. Use both when you want a personal universe: build the pyramid in the editor, then tune promotion odds, negotiation pacing, or season structure in Creative Mode. Feature context lives on What’s New.

Good practices

  • Name databases clearly (World_Community_Kits_2026, not finalfinal2).
  • Document which nations you deepened so collaborators know the scope.
  • Avoid editing a live career’s structural leagues mid-title race unless you accept chaos.
  • Keep official language expectations in mind—UI ships in English, German, and French—when writing readme files for shared DBs.
  • Link your finished pack from community spaces listed on the Links Hub, and never pay for “script” sites claiming to unlock editors—the tools already ship with the game.

Once the data layer feels right, practise transfers and squad building with the Players Hub and Transfers guides so your custom world plays as well as it looks.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for managers starting WE ARE FOOTBALL 2027.

What is the difference between the external and in-game editors?

The external editor builds leagues, cups, clubs, stadiums, and more before or outside a deep career. In-game editors adjust club, staff, and player data on a live save without a full rebuild.

Can I convert WE ARE FOOTBALL 2024 databases?

Yes. WAF27 supports automatic conversion of existing WAF databases. Back up first, convert, then test leagues, kits, and cups before starting a long career.

Do user databases support custom logos and kits?

Yes. Logo and kit editors accept custom graphics, and you can package them into user databases for sharing with other players.

Which database should custom league builders use?

Standard for Europe-focused projects with lighter load; World for 200+ countries and broader continental competitions—ideally on recommended PC specs.

Is the editor sold separately?

No. The powerful external editor and in-game editors are included with WE ARE FOOTBALL 2027. Beware third-party “script” sites claiming otherwise.
